Parent Volunteers - Events and Programs

We are proud to confirm that TGIF has expanded in membership.  We want to provide as many meaningful and variety of programs for our children as possible.  To achieve this goal, we need to expand our Events Team.

What:

Seeking 10 committed adult volunteers to assist the Events Chair with researching, planning, and implementing the various events that will meet the needs of students from 4th grade to 12th grade.

  • This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to work with the GIFTED community and to learn more about programs for our GIFTED children.
  • If you have ever wondered “what can I do to stimulate my child more?”, this is the chance for you to work with people who share the same desire and who have worked to make this a reality.
  • The objective of this Events Team is to bring a diverse set of programs to the TGIF community and nurture young minds to explore and experience areas that they have not been exposed to.
  • These Events are one day programs, designed to give our students a chance to explore different curriculum, skills, and experiences.
Roles/Responsibilities:
  1. Events Coordinators for Elementary Programs:  Need 4 volunteers who want to research, organize, and execute plans to bring events, field trips, outings, speakers, competitions, and games to stimulate and challenge the minds of gifted 4th graders to 6th graders.
  2. Events Coordinators for Jr. High Programs:  Need 3 volunteers who want to research, organize, and execute plans to bring events, field trips, outings, speakers, competitions, and games to stimulate and challenge the minds of gifted 6th graders to 8th graders.
  3. Events Coordinators for High School Programs:  Need 2 volunteers who want to research, organize, and execute plans to bring events, field trips, outings, speakers, competitions, and games to stimulate and challenge the minds of gifted 9th graders to 12th graders.
  4. Events Specialist: Need 1 volunteer with Project Management or Event planning experience (preferred, but not required) to help our Chair organize our Student Showcase, Career Days, Science Fair, and other large scale events.
Skills required:
  • No experience is necessary. Need only the desire to plan events and make them fun and enriching for the children.  If you have events planning experience, that's great!
  • Bring your enthusiasm, team spirit, and a positive attitude to create lasting impressions on our children.
  • Be able to effectively communicate and work with a team and are able to meet deadlines.
  • Be willing to learn about what Gifted children need and find ways to bring it to our TGIF community
  • Be willing to stimulate discussion and bring creative ideas to the team
Training:
Events Chair and TGIF President will be hosting a meeting to further discuss our plans for 2012-2013.
